To create subtitles for YouTube videos, you will need to upload a .srt or .vtt subtitle file. Here are the steps to create and upload subtitles to YouTube:
1. Make subtitles for YouTube for an external file. You can use any text editor to manually create the subtitle file. The .srt format has a specific syntax where each line is a subtitle number, the start and end times of the subtitle, and then the subtitle text itself. The .vtt format is slightly different, but is also used to create subtitles.
2. Save the subtitle file with .srt or .vtt extension.
3. Go to your YouTube page and select the video you want to add subtitles to.
4. Click on the "Basic Information" icon below the video player, and then go to the "Subtitles" tab.
5. Click on the "Add Subtitles" button and select the subtitle language you want to add.
6. Select the subtitle adding mode: "Create new subtitle" or "Add existing subtitle file".
7. If you select the "Create new subtitles" mode, paste the subtitle text into the corresponding field and set the start and end time of the subtitles.
8. If you selected the "Add an existing subtitle file" mode, click on the "Load file" button and select the previously saved subtitle file.
9. After the subtitles have been uploaded or created, click on the "Publish" button.
10. After the publication of subtitles, they will become available for viewing on the video.
